For the solar eclipse on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore designer sunglasses — Maybach Diplomat-I with Carl Zeiss lenses, similar to the pair he wore to China in 2015. These spectacles, which bear the logo of the German carmaker, cost more than $2,159 online, whose rupee equivalent is above Rs 1.5 lakh.
