Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday launched a Rs 3,397-crore scheme named Ama Odisha, Nabin Odisha (Our Odisha, New Odisha) to make Odisha a modern, vibrant, and aspirational state.

Each panchayat of the state will receive Rs 50 lakh under the scheme to undertake various developmental works in their respective areas.

However, the BJP has raised objections to the advertisement released for the promotion of the scheme with the ruling BJD’s conch symbol.

Several steps would be taken under the scheme for the development of infrastructure in rural areas and the promotion and conservation of Shree Jagannath culture.

Besides the rural development and promotion of Jagannath culture, steps would be taken for the development of primary education, empowerment of women and youth, and spreading of banking and digital services in rural pockets.
