Amit Shah can say jumla, not others.

Haryana sports minister Anil Vij on Saturday said international shooter Manu Bhaker “should feel sorry” for asking on social media whether the government’s promise of Rs 2 crore for her winning gold at the 2018 Youth Olympics in October was a “jumla” (rhetoric), PTI reported.

Vij dubbed 16-year-old Bhaker’s comments “disgusting”.

“Jumla” has come to mean unfulfilled promises ever since BJP president Shah used the word in an interview. Shah was trying to suggest that a perceived promise by Narendra Modi, which created an impression that Rs 15 lakh could be deposited in each Indian’s bank account, should not be taken literally.
