The Congress has demanded fresh investigation into the Haren Pandya murder in the light of claims that Sohrabuddin Sheikh killed him on the instructions of controversial police officer D.G. Vanzara.
Referring to the deposition of witness Azam Khan before the CBI court in which he claimed that Sohrabuddin had told him about the plot, Congress spokesperson Tom Vadakkan said: “There should be an inquiry monitored by the Supreme Court.”
Khan made the deposition in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter death case on Saturday.
Pandya was Gujarat home minister when he was shot dead while out for a morning walk.
Vadakkan asked: “Was Sohrabuddin later killed in a fake encounter because he knew too much?” He expressed surprise that the BJP was not interesting in resolving the mystery of its own leader’s murder.
