A BJP MLA in Bihar has registered an FIR against fellow party MP and MLA, accusing them of conspiring to eliminate him and his son.

Alinagar (Darbhanga district) BJP MLA Mishri Lal Yadav has alleged in the FIR lodged at the Raiyam police station that a mob of 31 identified and around 70 unidentified people had come to kill him and his son at the behest of Madhubani MP Ashok Kumar Yadav, Keoti (Madhubani district) MLA Murari Mohan Jha, and mahant (head monk) Ram Udit Das of Panchadhi Sthan.

The FIR, a copy of which is with The Telegraph, was registered on August 9 but came to light on Friday.

Mishri Lal had submitted a complaint to the Raiyam SHO on August 2, alleging that he was sipping tea at a stall at Panchadhi Chowk when he got information that hundreds of people were assembling there to kill him.

“I saw people gathering at the place. They had come armed with sticks, spears, swords and revolvers, hurled abuses and searched for me with the aim to kill my son Dhiraj Yadav and me. They wanted to eliminate us at the behest of Madhubani MP Ashok Kumar Yadav, Keoti MLA Murari Mohan Jha and Panchadhi Sthan mahant Ram Udit Das,” the Alinagar MLA wrote in his complaint on whose basis the case was registered.

Efforts to contact Mishri Lal were unsuccessful because he did not respond to phone calls and messages.

When contacted, Ashok told this newspaper: “I came to know about the FIR on Thursday. The allegations against me are concocted and baseless. The incident cited in it is of August 2 while the FIR was registered on August 9. I was in Delhi attending the Lok Sabha session on both dates.”

“Mishri Lal and his son do whatever they want and have no respect for the people. He was once involved in a murderous assault on me during the tenure of RJD leader Rabri Devi as the chief minister,” Ashok added.

Ashok, son of stalwart BJP leader and former Union minister Hukum Deo Narayan Yadav, has been an MLA thrice and was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019. Questioning the working of the Bihar police, Ashok asserted that if Mishri Lal Yadav submitted a complaint on August 2 and the FIR was registered on August 9, why did the police not contact him or ask him anything about the alleged incident during the one-week period.

“I will raise the issue at the party forum and am contemplating complaining to the Lok Sabha Speaker about how the police registered an FIR without either contacting me or seeking clarification from me. I will also take necessary legal action on the matter,” Ashok said.

Another accused, Keoti MLA Murari Mohan Jha, alleged that Mishri Lal and his son face several cases pertaining to various crimes. “Mishri Lal was an RJD MLA from Keoti, but his party did not give him a ticket in the 2020 Assembly polls. He fought the poll from Alinagar on Vikassheel Insan Party (VIP) of Mukesh Sahni and won. However, all three MLAs of the VIP, including Mishri Lal, joined the BJP in 2022. He keeps interfering in my constituency. One Rajendra Chaupal named in the FIR is also a BJP leader. Mishri Lal had abused and threatened him recently, following which he had registered an FIR under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act,” Jha said.
