Senior AAP leaders hit out at the BJP government in Gujarat after the party’s state president, Isudan Gadhvi, was arrested in Khambhaliya in Dwarka district.

A television news channel reported that police cracked down on AAP supporters after a heated argument between Gadhvi and an inspector.

Police had objected to a crowd of 50 AAP supporters recording videos on their mobile phones inside Khambhaliya police station. The police told reporters that Gadhvi had not yet been arrested but was held back for legal formalities.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal posted on X: “In the past three months, 145 FIRs have been filed against Aam Aadmi Party workers in Gujarat. The BJP government has arrested more than 160 workers. The BJP is badly
rattled by the fear of defeat
to the Aam Aadmi Party in Gujarat and now it has resorted to dictatorship.”

Kejriwal and AAP’s Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann held several rallies in the state recently. The AAP won five of the 182 seats and got a 12.92 per cent vote share in alliance with the Bharatiya Tribal Party in the 2022 Assembly polls.

Kejriwal added: “Today, our state president Isudan Gadhvi has been arrested. Now every single person in Gujarat will take revenge against them. The BJP’s arrogance and oppression will be broken by the people of Gujarat themselves.”

AAP Rajya Sabha leader Sanjay Singh told reporters: “Our worker Deepak Kumar was beaten by goons and when he went to the police to file a complaint, he was arrested. When AAP state president Isudan Gadhvi — an eminent former journalist — went there, he too was arrested. This is the BJP’s thuggery. Earlier, they had also arrested tribal leader and MLA Chaitar Vasavaji, along with his family, and sent farmer leader Praveen Ramji to jail as well.”
