Ormax Media, India’s only specialised media consulting firm, has released a list of the top five most-awaited Hindi movies to release after December 2022. Pushpa: The Rule is at no. 1, followed by Pathaan at no. 2, Tiger 3 at no. 3, Jawan at no. 4 and Dunki at no. 5. In making this list, Ormax has considered only those films releasing December 2022 onwards whose trailers have not yet been released.

Pusha: The Rule being the most awaited film is expected as Pusha: The Rise starring Allu Arjun in the title role was among the biggest box office hits of 2022, with the film’s storyline ending with the promise of a sequel. Pushpa: The Rise, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, had a slow start at the theatres after its release in January 2021 but soon became a rage across India.

The shooting of the sequel Pushpa: The Rule is in full swing. The clash between Pushpa, who now has a firm hold on the sandalwood business, and police officer Bhanwar Singh (Fahadh Faasil) will be the focal point of the story in the second part of the Pushpa franchise.

SRK’s comeback year

Shah Rukh Khan leads the charge with three of his films at the second, fourth and fifth spots on the much-awaited list. Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan is going to be Shah Rukh’s comeback film after Aanad L Rai’s Zero (2018). According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan will be seen in the role of a spy in this action thriller. Deepika Padukone and John Abraham are part of the cast.

For Jawan, the fourth most awaited film, Shah Rukh has teamed up with Tamil filmmaker Atlee. Nayanthara is his leading lady. In Dunki, he will be directed by Rajkumar Hirani. This is Shah Rukh’s first collaboration with the director of Munnabhai, PK and Sanju. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu.

All lined up for 2023, Pathaan is slated to hit the threatres in January, Jawan in June and Dunki in December.

In between the Shah Rukh films, Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 — the third most anticipated film on the Ormax list — co-starring Katrina Kaif and directed by Kabir Khan will have a big Diwali release in 2023. Incidentally, Shah Rukh has a cameo in Tiger 3.

Salaar fails to make the cut

The glaring omissions from the Ormax list are Prabhas’s Salaar, Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter.
