A technical fault delayed a Kolkata–Hindon Air India Express flight by seven hours and disrupted subsequent services, including one to Goa, reported IndiaToday.

Passengers at Kolkata Airport were in for a long wait on Sunday morning. Air India Express Flight IX 1511, scheduled to depart for Hindon at 7:00 am, remained grounded for seven hours due to a technical issue in the aircraft originally assigned for the route.

The flight, meant to land at Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad by 9:20 am, was delayed as the airline worked to resolve the problem.

According to IndiaToday, an Air India Express spokesperson said in a statement, “Our Kolkata–Hindon flight operated, with a delay, due to a snag on the originally assigned aircraft.”

While the nature of the fault wasn’t disclosed, it was serious enough to warrant a change of aircraft. The delay didn’t just affect passengers on the Kolkata–Hindon leg. The same aircraft was scheduled to operate the Hindon–Goa flight at 10:20 am. That service, meant to reach Goa by 12:55 pm, had to be cancelled.

Passengers were given the option to reschedule or cancel their booking. The airline said, “Passengers were offered complimentary rescheduling or a full refund in case of cancellations.”

The airline acknowledged the disruption and added, “Air India Express expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers and assured that efforts were made to manage the disruption efficiently.”
