Japan Airlines (JAL) and IndiGo have signed a codeshare agreement on Monday, targeting a slice of the booming travel market between Japan and India.

Effective October, the pact allows JAL to sell tickets on IndiGo’s domestic network, expanding its reach to 14 new Indian destinations beyond its existing Delhi and Bengaluru routes from Tokyo.

The deal strengthens JAL’s presence in the lucrative Indian market initially, with IndiGo gaining access to JAL’s international network in later phases.

Passengers will enjoy seamless travel experiences by booking their entire journey, including connections within India, on a single JAL ticket. Major Indian cities like Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad will become readily accessible for travelers departing from Japan.

“This codeshare partnership strengthens our initial connectivity into India,” the airlines said.
