Calcutta: Restrictions imposed due to the ongoing Pandemic in the state of Karnataka, have prompted Stewards of the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC), on Wednesday, to cancel the entire summer racing season, according to a BTC on notification.

The BTC’s cancellation of the season hardly came as a surprise. The stewards should have been wiser about a fortnight ago as the situation was hardly conducive then to hold live racing, with or without race goers’ attendance.

In fact, BTC should have focused on the ‘Online’ betting on the International circuit. Is BTC biding time, if so, then what is their agenda.

The Western India Turf Club (RWITC) is also playing the same game. The club has also indicated the likely start of the Pune racing in the third week of August. There is remote possibility to give the programme a start with the deteriorating pandemic condition in the city.

The Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) is silent on the issue. In any case,

the Club in a financial mess and only the sale of the Hastings property can bail the club out. The property was advertised for sale about five days ago.

Honestly speaking, all turf clubs are waiting for the start of Online betting, albeit on International turf centres. The start of such kind of betting will not only help turf clubs meet the monthly expenses but also  bide their time.

The Telegraph racing website, too, believes that race goers needs to be in touch with International thoroughbreds and the kind of betting systems they follow.

The Telegraph racing website, therefore, has taken a small step with live coverage of the Happy Valley on Wednesday, that happens to be the last day of the present season.

We promise to provide you the best of UK, Ireland South Africa and other important race centres’ coverage in mid-weeks and weekends to follow.

Please keep visiting the website for further announcements. We will be back before the weekend begins.
