SIH 2023, a nationwide platform, is inviting students to harness their creativity and knowledge to develop innovative solutions to pressing challenges faced by our society. The hackathon will focus on problem statements provided by leading public and private organizations, union ministries, state governments, and NGOs across India.

NiT's internal hackathon is expected to serve as a crucial precursor to SIH 2023, setting the stage for ingenious solutions to emerge. A total of 110 teams, each comprising six college students, including at least one female member, are expected to submit their innovative ideas.

Following a rigorous blind screening process by the internal review committee, 70 teams are expected to earn the privilege of participating in the internal hackathon. To ensure the utmost fairness and objectivity, eight distinguished experts, both external and internal, are expected to evaluate the merit of the proposed ideas presented during the internal hackathon. The evaluation criteria are expected to encompass various aspects, including the novelty of the idea, complexity, clarity, feasibility, practicability, sustainability, scale of impact, user experience, and potential for future progression.

Huge enthusiasm is expected to prevail among the participating teams around this internal hackathon (SIH 2023), as evident from their vibrant pre-event presence throughout the day at the campus. All jury members already shared their thoughts on how difficult it is going to be for them to shortlist only thirty-five teams (as per the SIH 2023 norm) from so many promising presentations.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Simarpreet Singh, Director, JIS Group, said, “NiT's internal hackathon is not only going to encourage students to think creatively and innovatively but also provide a platform for them to showcase their problem-solving prowess on a national stage. It is a testament to NiT's commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and empowering the next generation of problem solvers.”
