Indian Institute of Art and Design, Delhi and Kingston School of Art, London have collaborated to launch JAMBOREE, a one-of-kind design conversation platform.

JAMBOREE is a creative confluence of views and ideas on design, providing a shared space for curious and creative minds. It has been conceived to be a conversation starter between a diverse community of design learners and build a bridge across cultures and borders. JAMBOREE was conducted a series of six online talks spread throughout the academic year of 2022-23 with prominent speakers from both KSA and IIAD.

The JAMBOREE event kick started with a talk by Dr. Sass Brown, KSA Course Leader, Sustainable Fashion - Business and Practices, titled “Great Fashion Design that has the imperative of sustainability and the environment at its core”.

Members of the panel were Shipra Kukreja, Teaching Staff, Fashion Design, IIAD, Caroline Alexander, Teaching Staff, BA Fashion KSA, Shreya Goel, Student, Fashion Design, IIAD and Eleana Ward, Student, Fashion Design, KSA. The panelist brought together a balanced mix of faculty and students who have worked on or are interested in working towards a sustainable future in fashion.

Damian Chapman, Head of the Design School at Kingston School of Art and Usha Patel, Director - Academics at the Indian Institute of Art and Design have been at the heart of conceiving this idea and making JAMBOREE possible. Sharing his excitement on the launch Mr Chapman said, “IIAD and KSA share the same ethos of design. With JAMBOREE, a connector between the two institutions, we will advocate for provocative ideas that will inspire new thinking, new making and new projects. Let’s make sure we are all a part of this new process.”

Usha Patel, talking about this unique platform said, “ JAMBOREE is not only about sharing knowledge, but also about creating knowledge together. Promoting diversity in our socio-cultural context, this is a multidirectional event on the issues and opportunities that design is facing.”
