Mockumentary works for everyone, from office-goers to vampires

Pop culture’s favourite format is now a part of Oxford’s Learner’s Dictionary. But most millennials probably won’t need to consult a dictionary to learn what a mockumentary is considering some of their favourite shows are designed to fit the format, be it The Office, Parks & Recreation or What We Do In The Shadows.

A mockumentary is a documentary that has been designed to satirize its own subject and most shows and films do it with the help of a camera crew that interviews the characters in a reality show confessional-style set-up. Some popular sitcoms like Modern Family and Reno 911 have borrowed some elements from the mockumentary format while some films have also done the same, such as Borat and I’m Still Here.
