Sandra Oh’s next is a spookfest that transcends generations

'Umma' hits theatres on March 18

The Umma trailer opens with Amanda (Sandra Oh), a beekeeper living a calm and uneventful life on an American farm with her teenage daughter (Fivel Stewart). However, spooky undertones are evident from the very first frame. The drama creeps in when Amanda’s past catches up with her, as she receives her deceased mother’s remains in an urn from South Korea. The trailer quickly switches gears from a mystery to a full-blown supernatural horror when Amanda’s mom’s spirit begins terrorizing the duo, hinting at some truly bone-chilling moments. 

Besides terrifying CGI and snappy editing, Oh and Stewart’s chemistry is perfect and really brings out the tension. We can’t wait to find out more about this spirit’s mysterious motivations when Umma hits theatres on March 18.
