A holiday romance for the ages

The Holiday by Nancy Meyers is the unlikeliest Christmas watch and yet it’s one of the most wholesome holiday romance comedies. If you’re staying in this weekend and are looking for a breezy classic, The Holiday on Netflix would be a rewarding pick. The movie follows Hollywood editor Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and London journalist Iris (Kate Winslet) who swap houses to escape their cities during the holidays. While Amanda meets Iris’ brother Graham (Jude Law), Iris meets the witty Miles (Jack Black). 

Meyers is of course a pro with the rom-com genre and has produced and directed some of the most popular films of the last three decades, such as What Women Want, The Parent Trap, Father of the Bride and The Intern. The Holiday is definitely one of her most heart-warming films and is widely considered to be one of the finest comfort watches. The Graduate star Dustin Hoffman makes an uncredited cameo in the movie, see if you can spot it!
