Revisit Facebook’s (or rather meta’s) controversial origin story

There’s no better time to watch this Oscar-winning gem

Despite being a David Fincher film, The Social Network is all about Aaron Sorkin who establishes conflict, tension, resolution and melancholy through his Oscar-winning screenplay. The film feels more relevant now than ever, with the entire Facebook-Meta debacle being added to the tangle of controversies surrounding the social media giant.

The film is a unique biographical take on Facebook’s creation and the relationship between Mark Zuckerberg and its co-founders. Although much of the film is dialogue-heavy, Jesse Eisenberg breathes life into Zuckerberg’s brooding silences, a pre-Spiderman Andrew Garfield shines as Eduardo Saverin, as does Justin Timberlake as Sean Parker. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ Oscar-winning score deserves a special mention, as it works wonders establishing the emptiness of Boston's packed spaces.

Considering the news cycle, a sequel seems a matter of time.
