'Fire Island' is the gay rom-com you’ve been waiting for

And it features an SNL cast member!

Comedian Joel Kim Booster and Saturday Night Live star Bowen Yang star in the season’s hottest gay comedy, Fire Island. The film follows a group of gay friends, who head to the Pines (in Long Island) to spend a weekend at their friend’s beach house. What ensues is basically a modern-day Pride and Prejudice (no really, the Jane Austen novel did inspire this film).

“The film doesn’t sugarcoat the Fire Island experience, and Joel has talked about how many moments of the film are lifted from his own experiences. I love rom-coms, and there’s something about them that allows us to process the difficult emotions around being desired that, without a sense of humor, would be crushing,” says director Andrew Ahn.
