‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ is much more than a romcom

The Ayushmann Khurrana-Vaani Kapoor starrer promises to break stereotypes

Ayushmann Khurrana’s films have always given us the unexpected, made us think even as we laugh through them. The trailer of his upcoming venture Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui is no exception. A beefed up Ayushmann plays Manvinder Munjal aka Mannu, a gym instructor and hopeful heavyweight champion in Chandigarh, who falls in love with the gym’s new zumba instructor Maanvi Brar, played by Bell Bottom actress Vani Kapoor. Their picture-perfect, Chandigarh-flavoured romance unravels when Manu discovers that Maanvi is a transgender woman. Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor of Kai Po Che and Kedarnath fame, builds intrigue while giving us a healthy dose of humour in the three-odd-minute trailer, and we look forward to watching this tale unfold. The film releases in theatres on December 10, 2021.
