Michael Douglas stars as Benjamin Franklin in new Apple TV show
The latest trailer teases Franklin’s clandestine mission in France, a gamble for American Independence

While Benjamin Franklin gained widespread popularity for his accomplishments as an inventor, the biggest challenge of his career came when as a 70-year-old without any diplomatic training, he convinced an absolute monarchy to underwrite America’s democracy. His eight years in France are the subject of Franklin, a new miniseries from Apple TV+, based on Pulitzer Prize winner Stacy Schiff’s book, A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America. The streaming giant recently revealed the trailer of the eight-part show, promising to give a deeper look into one of the most celebrated icons of American history. Michael Doughlas, who has been cast as the titular character, shines in every frame, bringing a great deal of gravitas to a man burdened with the expectations of an entire nation. Set to stream from April 12, this show deserves to be on your watchlist!
