Fashion designer Kallol Datta spotlights native clothing practices from South Asia in his solo exhibition Volume 3, ISSUE 2, currently being held at South Kolkata's Experimenter gallery. The artist’s textile sculptures are made with upcycled, vintage fabrics.

The installation presents a juxtaposition of several rare handwoven textiles that are stitched together and offer a perspective on cultural sustainability, post-war politics in Japanese clothing edicts and old-school textile traditions. For instance, Datta made a few pieces using obi belts to examine different styles of textile knotting and attempted to recreate the tension that usually keeps fabrics together. The pieces were stuffed with cotton by Kolkata’s gaadiwallahs or cotton carders who traditionally use a dhunki.
