This Apple docu spotlights an intriguing chicken rice war
Who knew the humble chicken rice could bring so much drama?

To promote the new iPhone 13 Pro, Apple dropped a short documentary titled Poached, which takes a keen look at Singapore’s national food – chicken rice – and spotlights a tense relationship between two hawkers, competing against each other.
The entire film has been shot on an iPhone and is set against the backdrop of Singapore’s famous Maxwell Food Centre. It has been filmed by David Gelb of Chef’s Table fame. The documentary follows a rivalry between two popular chicken rice stalls, Tian Tian and Ah Tai Chicken. The latter is owned by Tian Tian’s former disgruntled chef of 20 years.
“Shooting in a hawker kitchen, there’s not a lot of space. We want to tell their story, but we don’t want to interfere, and we want to present what they are doing in a very authentic and natural way,” shared Gelb.
