In recent times, Catan has emerged from being a game for niche circles to more universal ones. The premise beckons 3-4 players to Catan, where they explore its hills, forest, pastures, mountains and desert. Players can combine resources like bricks, ore, lumbar and wool to purchase development cards. These allow them to build roads, cities and settlements. Resources can be acquired through trades, cards, or lucky dice. Players can face multiple obstacles in their quest like (literal) roadblocks, theft and a monopoly. The game requires attention to detail, ability to strategize and think along multiple parameters. If diplomacy is your strong suit, and the thought of building a hypothetical empire gives you chills, Catan is for you. Moreover, no two games are alike, requiring you to constantly be on your toes!
