‘Shringara of Shrinathji’ by Shri Amit Ambalal
A one-of-its kind curation of miniature Nathdwara paintings

Every year, Rajasthan’s Nathdwara temple attracts throngs of devotees from all around the country, if not the world. The temple is well-known for the various adornments or shringaras of Lord Shrinathji, which keep changing throughout the day.
It is these shringaras that form the core of Shringara of Shrinathji. Published by Mapin Publishing, the book contains sixty miniature paintings by Shri Gokal Lal Mehta. The book’s intricately detailed paintings are in keeping with the ancient pushtimarg tradition, which is centred around the intermingling of art and devotion. With each painting, comes descriptions that delve into the various components of the adornment including the appropriate time of day or particular season during which it is brought out.
The book has been conceptualised by the artist’s eldest grandson – Vikram Goyal – and makes for an excellent addition to your assortment of coffee-table books.
