Who we were rooting for at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards
Revel with rockstars Dua Lipa and The Killers

“...You want me, I want you, baby
My sugarboo, I'm levitating.”
Sounds familiar? Of course! Dua Lipa’s Levitating scripted history this year when it spent 35 straight weeks on the top half of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. The diva was nominated for the ‘Best Pop’ award at the MTV EMAs and we’re sure she missed out by a diminutive margin. Featuring on Future Nostalgia, Lipa’s sophomore album, the tune is a mash-up of electro-disco and nu-disco, with elements of pop-funk, space rock and R&B, a mix that set Tik-Tok on fire. The artiste's recent collaboration, Cold Heart, with the English singer-songwriter Elton John is also sitting high on Billboard charts worldwide.

Audiences were spoilt for choice with a host of stellar nominations for the ‘Best Rock’ category at MTV EMAs. Although The Killers (the dashing Brandon Flowers, Dave Keuning, Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr.) didn’t win an MTV EMA, they definitely won every die-hard rock fan’s heart with their newest studio album Pressure Machine. We fell head over heels in love with the troupe in ‘04 when Mr Brightside dropped as part of their debut album Hot Fuss and it’s been an incredible journey ever since — from When You Were Young on Sam’s Town to West Hills on Pressure Machine! If you’re a rock listener and this group isn’t on your radar, you’ve been missing out.
