Abir Mukherjee is the writer of the Wyndham and Banerjee series set in Raj-era Calcutta, while Vaseem Khan is the author of the Baby Ganesh Detective Agency novels, featuring, among other things, a baby elephant. 

When they are not writing — which seems to be often — the two British Asian crime writers run a podcast from Abir’s mum’s kitchen and yes, it is just as mad as it sounds. The two men banter, crack relentless jokes mostly at their own expense and make mincemeat of any friend that dares to venture into the show, which they keep doing with alarming bravado. 

A lot of the conversations centre around books, writing and crime fiction, which feels like joining something of a cross between a book club and Mad Hatter’s tea party. But that’s the fun of it.
