A perfect Sunday noon track

Anjan Dutt’s discography has managed to stand the test of time with modern listeners since some of his oldest hits from the nineties are also popularly sung today. Dutt’s Tumi na thakle is one of his most enduring songs and has found popularity with people of all ages. The song featured on Dutt’s 1995 album Purono Guitar alongside some other noteworthy tunes such as Bela Bose and Ali Baba.

Dutt brought the song back for his 2006 film The Bong Connection starring Parambrata Chatterjee, Raima Sen and Shayan Munshi. The film’s soundtrack found resonance with the young crop of listeners in the mid-aughts as almost every college fest belted out the cheeky number. The lyrics are the song’s biggest novelty; they balance comedy, realism and romance which was hard to come by in the ‘90s contemporary Bengali music circuit. Usha Uthup’s vocals contribute to the track’s uniqueness as well.
