Sunday Classics: Stephen Fry narrating P.G. Wodehouse

The perfect companion for a quiet, lazy Sunday

Published 06.02.22, 12:47 AM

Is there a better way to spend a sunny winter afternoon than with the golden oldies penned by P.G. Wodehouse? Yes, there is! A sunny winter afternoon spent listening to Stephen Fry reading out to you golden oldies penned by P.G. Wodehouse.

Audible has two collections of stories (P.G. Wodehouse Volume 1 & 2) on the shenanigans of Bertie Wooster and his ‘gentleman’s gentleman’ Jeeves, the romantic disasters of Bingo Little, scary Aunt Agatha and all the goings on at that abode of peace (read pandemonium) in Shropshire, Blandings Castle — pig, secretary, butler, lord, sister, nieces, nephews, imposters et al.

While there are others who too have narrated Wodehouse tales, no one comes quite close to the crisp, clipped perfection of actor Stephen Fry’s narration, which conjures up the quiet decadence of England from another time.
