‘Celestial Prophecies: Vol.1’ by ShredxXx

The Pune band’s debut LP plays up mythical themes

Heavy metal/prog rock band ShredxXx has dropped its debut concept album, Celestial Prophecies: Vol 1 which features six tracks. The album will be followed by Vol:2, which is scheduled to release between 2025-26. The LP was made in collaboration with Skyharbor’s Keshav Dhar who co-produced, mixed and mastered the album. 

ShredxXx was conceived in Kolkata in 2015, as an old school metal band that borrowed elements of Indian music, like electric sitar over heavy metal riffs. They released their debut self-titled EP in 2016, following which ShredxXx moved bases to Pune and underwent a few line-up changes. 

“The worm of concept albums had already wiggled into our minds back when we wrote our first self-titled EP. This time around, we tried to come up with our very own universe..personifying each Zodiac sign into a tribe or an individual, weaving our stories around their lives. We thought that Zodiac Signs would be a really interesting topic to write on, and believe it or not, it gets really relatable for some of us while writing the songs, and to a lot of the people who are gonna be listening to the album,” the band shares.
