French toast at Patisserie by Franziska

Kolkata may have its share of European breakfast joints but scoring a classic brioche French toast is still quite a chore. Although Bengali kitchens may have reclaimed the French toast as a go-to weekend breakfast, the French toast isn’t traditionally savoury. In fact, it’s one of the most filling breakfast desserts there is, right after pancake. But fret not, because Russell Street’s Patisserie by Franziska has a new line of winter specials featuring a decadent, sweet French toast.

Patisserie by Franziska’s version uses brioche bread and also features salted caramel, cinnamon, vanilla cream and is topped with gorgeous caramelised bananas.
