Fish ’n Chips from Tribe Cafe

A crowd favourite crunchy snack that will fill you up

There’s nothing more appetising than a plate of crunchy fried fish alongside some fries and tartar sauce, and Tribe Cafe’s fish ’n chips promises exactly that. 

First, Bhetki fish fillets are marinated in a classic seasoning of garlic, pepper and a hint of vinegar. For the batter, tempura flour and eggs are beaten together, after which soda water is added to the mix in order to make some aeration. This is further enhanced by adding ice cold water. As the cold batter hits the oil, the fish cooks evenly and the batter helps create a crunchy golden exterior. The batter-fried fish is served with hand-cut fries and their house tartar sauce, which adds a tang to the fish.
