Duck Vindaloo at Kewpie’s

‘Burra Din’ Specials to ring in some holiday cheer

Published 23.12.21, 07:29 AM

Every year during Christmas week, Rakhi Purnima Dasgupta’s home-style diner Kewpie’s hosts a curated Anglo-Indian feast featuring some signature festive picks. This year too, the ‘Burra Din’ Specials menu at Kewpie’s promises Anglo-Indian delicacies such as Chicken Country Captain and Smoked Hilsa. “We’ve been doing the Burra Din Specials menu for ages. It’s been 23 years, to be specific,” shares Dasgupta.

While the traditional ‘Daab Chingri’ also has a place on the menu, the piece de resistance this year is the Duck Vindaloo, a curry house staple. Cooked over a slow fire, the duck is marinated in jaggery, chillies, coriander and cumin powder. This dish has a slight tang from the vinegar but also boasts a complex caramelised taste from the jaggery.

The specials are available till January 2.
