Chasu Ramen at Fatty Bao

A ramen bowl straight out of a Studio Ghibli movie

If you’re a fan of Fatty Bao’s signature Char Siu baos, the Chasu Ramen from their menu can’t possibly disappoint you. The traditional Chasu pork ramen is famed for its slow-cooked intensity and it takes a while to prepare this Japanese-style stock (the Japanese name ‘chashu’ actually comes from the Chinese term ‘char-siu’ meaning pork meat). Fatty Bao serves this delicacy as a ramen meal made with bacon and pork stock, braised pork belly, bean sprouts, topped with a marinated soft-boiled egg and scallions.

Chashu is typically slow-cooked at low temperatures which makes the meat tender and juicier and also elevates the savouriness. If you’re looking to order a comforting number to beat the cold, the Chasu is ideal. Or go with Fatty Bao’s Fatty Pho ramen which features an aromatic chicken broth.
