The Metro railway has generally been dependent on passengers revenue.

However, lately, the carrier authorities have taken multiple steps to increase its non-fare revenue.

In its bid to increase non-fare income, Metro authorities have co-branded 10 of its stations in the North-South and East-West corridors.

Kolkata Metro signed a memorandum of understanding last month with the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) for the co-branding rights of the Park Street Metro station, which will be renamed IIHM Park Street Metro. The LICI City Centre Metro station has already been inaugurated.

Apart from co-branding stations, the carrier authorities have emphasised advertising inside and outside the Metro rakes and on the sidewalls of the escalators.

Kolkata Metro has also earned a substantial amount of non-fare revenue from installing food kiosks and ATMs of different banks on the Metro premises and smart card branding as well.
