Bengal logs 510 new Covid-19 cases from 27k tests

A total of 11 people died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to state govt data

West Bengal reported 510 cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, according to the state government figures released on Monday evening.

A total of 27,503 samples were tested across the state, according to the release of the West Bengal department of health and family welfare, which translates to a positivity rate of 1.85 per cent.

That being the total number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the state to 15,48,058.

A total of 15,20,702 patients had been discharged from hospital till August 29, and in the last 24 hours another 647 novel coronavirus patients were discharged.

A total of 11 people died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, adding on to the 18,434 fatalities officially recorded till August 29.

The total number of active Covid-19 cases as on Aug 29 was 8,922, and which came down by 148.

The discharge rate from Covid-19 in the state is at 98.23 per cent. The fatality rate is 1.19 per cent.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee's government has said it would consider reopening schools gradually after Durga Puja provided the Covid situation remained under control.
