All eyes were on the skies above the Hooghly river on Saturday evening as Kolkata witnessed one of the biggest attractions of its International Day of Yoga celebrations — a mega aerial show featuring around 3,000 drones over Prinsep Ghat and Millennium Park.
Images by Amit DattaThe drone display followed an evening of cultural performances, art installations, food stalls and family entertainment at the venue. Laser displays and interactive activities add to the festive atmosphere.
The aerial display formed the centrepiece of a larger cultural carnival unfolding on the eve of Yoga Day.
The show combined technology, light and storytelling, creating animated formations above some of Kolkata’s most recognisable landmarks.
Visitors gathered along the riverbank to watch the spectacle, which emerged as one of the highlights of the city's three-day Yoga Day celebration.
The celebrations will culminate on Sunday morning with a mass yoga demonstration taking place at Red Road. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in the programme. Along with that, there will be a yoga demonstration on 500 boats sailing on the Hooghly in an attempt to set the Guinness World record.
