Calcutta: Arti Doctor trained Buckley (G. Vivek-up), scored a stunning victory to claim the Bullet Cup, the feature event here on Thursday. A small field of five runners lined up for the feature, with Aashay Doctors unbeaten filly Trakila (Yash Narredu), a frontline classic contender, quoted at 10/3 on, attracting a huge support. Buckley, who tracked Wonderful (Imran Chisty) till the top of the straight, was set alight by Vivek, turning into home straight, scored by a widening four lengths from Wonderful. Trakila’s performance was heartbreaking for the connections as she could only finish third.
Earlier in the afternoon, Arti Doctor-trained three year old filly, Sky Force (Yash Narredu), donkey-licked the opposition in the Cascades Handicap to score by a ‘distance’. Liban (Kirtish Bhagat) was the best of the rest while Vikas Jaiswal’s trained pair of Indian Tiger and Yuvi, filled rest of placings. They are getting ready for their share of glory.
The Multimagic Handicap, witnessed five contenders for the 1000 Guineas taking on others in a field of nine runners. Trainer Patrick Quinn’s Dubai Princess (A. Sandesh-up) hit the front from the fall of the flag, to make every post of the 1400m trip her own. The victory of the winner was emphatic over the late finishing Golden Light (J.H.Arul). The South India challenger Finley (Trevor Patel),who was the public fancy in the race, could only finish third. The Suleiman Attaollahi-trained filly is expected to come on a lot after this lung opener. The winner, however, looked a lot improved since her monsoon campaign, and thus making her as a live contender for the 1000 Guineas to be held later in this month.
Rutherford trained All Time Legend (Imran Chisty-up) received a one-sided support and fully justified support to claim the Comedy Of Errors Handicap, despite a sluggish start. Swift Lady (Arman Khan), her stable-mate, was the best of the rest.
In the concluding event Aashay Doctor’s Aeropoli (Yash Narredu-up), also scored despite giving weight all round. The three-year-old colt tracked pace setter Avon (J.H.Arul) till about the top of the straight to win as he liked, Donna Sienna (Trevor Patel), also a fancied runner, finished a far away second.
In the day’s opener, Vikas Jaiswal trained Elite (A.Sandesh-up) who had narrowly lost last time, came out one better on this occasion, to easily account for the course-favourite and pace setter Lineupandcollect (Trevor Patel) over the seven furlong trip.
