Supernatural for Derby

A new champion will be born at the Mahalaxmi racecourse, here, on Sunday. Nineteen horses have accepted to contest for a princely purse of Rs 1.2 crore and all concerned are praying for a good racing, though more than half in the crowded field may, ultimately, run nowhere.

Mumbai: A new champion will be born at the Mahalaxmi racecourse, here, on Sunday. Nineteen horses have accepted to contest for a princely purse of Rs 1.2 crore and all concerned are praying for a good racing, though more than half in the crowded field may, ultimately, run nowhere.
A filly named King’s Ransom (P. S. Chauhan-up), trained by Pesi Shroff, is likely to start as a favourite but she hardly finds favour in the knowledgeable circles. The local Gurus feel, Shroff’s other equally talented runner, Supernatural (Trevor Patel), a colt, has better credentials to win, the Derby, than the filly.
