Bangalore: Trainers Karthik Ganapathy’s Juliette (C.S. Jodha-up) and Pesi Shroff’s King’s Ransom (P.S. Chauhan) are expected to fight out the issue in the 2,400m Royal Arion Club Indian Turf Invitation Cup here on Sunday. The seven-year-old mare Juliette is an easy winner of the year 2022 edition of the Invitation Cup.
Juliette is also likely to be the public rage in the betting. She is also targeting Adjudicate’s record of back-to-back ‘Invitation Cup’ wins. However, the Musketier-Gimmesumsugar daughter is not growing any younger as King’s Ransom, a four-year-old, is also a very promising filly. She narrowly lost the Indian Derby, to Mirra, early last month, after almost trailing the 18-horse field; until 800m from the winning post.     The Multidimensional daughter also took the final turn about 11 horses wide and yet placed a length behind the winner, Mirra. It may come as a surprise if King’s Ransom lets down again.

The 3,000m Dr MAM Ramaswamy Chettiar of Chettinad Memorial Stayers’ Cup was claimed by the B. Suresh-trained My Opinion (Y.S. Srinath) who incidentally sported the famed ‘Gold and Brown’ silks of the late racing baron, MAM.
