The Karnataka government, on Friday, has given approval to the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) for online betting on horseracing. Racing in the country had come to a halt, on March 13, in support of the government efforts to battle the Corona Virus Pandemic.
BTC has been, however, directed to implement the online betting system within the framework of the existing Act and Rules. Bangalore (summer) races, therefore, are expected to start from early August.
“The modalities on online betting is still to be worked out, said a BTC club member. “But one thing is for sure that the sport will be held without spectators;” he added.
Race Clubs in Hyderabad, Mysore, Pune are also hopeful for the August-September starts while RCTC is eyeing for the post-puja slot.
