Juliette upstages ‘Ransom’

In a rare display of Class and form going hand in hand, trainer Karthik Ganapathy’s mare, Juliette (Chotu Jodha-up), justified her 14/10 odds while handing a narrow but decisive beating to the Pesi Shroff-trained filly, King’s Ransom (P.S. Chauhan), in the 2,400m Royal Arion Club Indian Turf Invitation Cup here on Sunday.

Bangalore: In a rare display of Class and form going hand in hand, trainer Karthik Ganapathy’s mare, Juliette (Chotu Jodha-up), justified her 14/10 odds while handing a narrow but decisive beating to the Pesi Shroff-trained filly, King’s Ransom (P.S. Chauhan), in the 2,400m Royal Arion Club Indian Turf Invitation Cup here on Sunday.
It was back-to-back Invitation Cup wins for the seven-year-old mare who had also claimed the year 2022 edition of the prestigious race held in Chennai.
With pace-setters like Blazing Bay and Supernatural at the helm for a major part of the journey, it hardly came as a surprise when Juliette broke the course-record over the Derby trip.
Juliette and King’s Ransom made their move almost simultaneously from the wrong-end of the field but were separated by three parts of a length at the wire while rest of the field was far behind. Chauhan, otherwise, was in total control during the Invitational weekend, having booted home five priced winners.
