Calcutta: Trainer Karthik Ganapathy’s mare, Juliette, may hog the total limelight during the two-day carnival of horseracing, beginning here on March 2. Juliette is going to be the firm favourite in the seven-horse field lined up for the March 3 prized event, the 2,400m Indian Turf Invitation Cup, sponsored by HPSL.
Juliette, an eight-year-old mare, could be termed as a grand old lady of the Indian turf. The mare’s achievements during the course of her career are numerous but the victory in the 2024 edition of this race may take her tally to a record hat trick of wins.
The Musketier-Gimmesumsugar daughter has already collected Rs 3.6 crore in stakes; Sunday’s victory may add another Rs 66 lakh in her kitty.
