Calcutta: Jockey Philip Alford (65yr) passed away after a cardiac arrest on Thursday morning. Alford continued his association with the Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) even after retirement from the sport. He coached the budding jockeys for quite some time before taking up a more challenging job as a ‘starter’. He leaves behind his wife, a daughter and grandchildren.
