Bengaluru: Trainer Pesi Shroff’s fancied filly Fynbos (Trevor Patel-up) was first, and the rest were nowhere in their quest for the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Bangalore Summer Derby here on Sunday.
Fynbos, the 17/10 favourite had a massive task at hand in a crowded 16 horse field. But, Trevor made his task look easy by keeping the Kingda Ka daughter in the mid-division during the early half of the 2,000m journey, before unleashing her trade mark burst to collar the early hopeful Prokofiev (Suraj Narredu) to win with absolute ease.
Trainer Pesi Shroff, has incidentally led in the last four edition of the Summer Derby through Supernatural, Jamari, Santissimo and now Fynbos.
