The National Medical Commission (NMC) publishes a notice addressing the validation of the old Medical Council of India (MCI) list's compulsory rotational medical internships (CRMIs). The commission advises that these internships are only intended to be used once. This rule is applicable to students whose internships at these universities started on or before 21 October 2022.

This is applicable to students who started their internship in these universities on or before 21 October 2022, according to NMC, who made this decision after receiving "different requests and representations." Any non-teaching hospital internship that begins after this date will be deemed invalid.

Since students who got their UG course completion certificates on or before 30 June 2022, would have to do two years of internship instead of the typical one year, the foreign medical graduates opposed the NMC's policies about CRMIs in November 2022. According to the commission, this action was taken to make up for the students' lack of clinical training due to the pandemic.

When NMC presented the list to the students on 21 October 2022, it made clear that only the colleges on the list were acceptable for internships. These changes left stranded students who had applied to institutions using the previous MCI list. Such students would feel relieved by the decision made in accordance with the most recent NMC notification, which certifies CRMIs finished or started in colleges on the MCI-approved list only on or before 21 October 2022.
