The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu has signed a pact with the Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India for collaboration in various areas, including the offering of joint courses. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at IICA Campus, Manesar, Gurugram on 16th Sept 2022. The MoU was signed by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director IIM Jammu, and Shri Praveen Kumar, IAS, Director General & CEO, IICA.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) provides for IIM Jammu to recognise IICA as a research centre for the purpose of conducting doctoral degree (PhD) and post-doctoral fellowship. The MoU is aimed to establish a partnership for training, education, consulting, research, and advocacy initiatives in indicative areas of corporate law, corporate governance, corporate communication, business innovation and entrepreneurship, business environment, public policy, inclusive and sustainable development, and any other area mutually decided by the two institutions from time to time. According to sources, the MoU will also be offering long-term joint programs, certificate programs, short-term training programs, offering Joint Ph.D. programs, joint seminars, conferences, workshops, collaboration for promoting entrepreneurship and incubations, and the establishment of centers of excellence.

"Centre(s) of excellence on contemporary business management and corporate affairs issues may also be established," a release said. According to the release, the indicative areas of collaboration include offering long-term joint courses and awarding degrees, diplomas and certificates on contemporary issues at the intersection of business management and corporate affairs. IICA comes under the corporate affairs ministry.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu said, “The MoU provides for IIM Jammu to recognize IICA as a research center for the purpose of conducting doctoral degree (Ph.D.) and post-doctoral fellowship. This MoU will also explore the areas of mutual interest to offer Degree Programs like MBA in Corporate Affairs, EMBA in Valuation in Blended Mode, Ph.D. in Corporate Affairs and related areas, executive training programs, management development programs, and submission of joint research proposals to different Ministries for research grants and establishing of centers of excellence, collaborating for entrepreneurship and incubation thereby leading to meaningful outcomes in the interest of both organizations and paving the path for the creation of a healthy business ecosystem in the nation.”

Shri Praveen Kumar, Director General & CEO, IICA said, “The indicative areas of collaboration include offering long-term joint courses and awarding degrees, diplomas, and certificates on contemporary issues at the intersection of business management and corporate affairs including the understanding of high performance in research, training, capacity building, advisory, organizing of various programs ranging from conferences, seminars, symposia, and lecture series through this MoU will surely lead to the creation of a positive, healthy environment for business innovation, excellence, entrepreneurship for a sustainable development in the nation.”
