Loreto Day School, Elliot Road will be organising Literaria~ a festival of expressions on 18th October 2023. The fest comprises three events Eloquent Echoes for Class IX, Resonant Words for Class X and A Character's Odyssey for Classes XI and XII.

The fest aims to instil in children a profound love for literature, a deeper understanding of the psyche of notable literary personas and a window of opportunity through which they interpret characters, situations and their significance with a discerning eye

There are eight participating schools including the host school. The judges for the fest are Mrs Kaveri Dutt, Mr Jimmy Tangree and Mrs Champa Majumder.

Eloquent Echoes - Recitation of poems that assert individual freedom and shun oppression. The poets chosen for the fest by the host school are Marge Piercy, Maya Angelou, P.B. Shelley, Robert Browning, Bob Dylan etc.

Resonant Words allows the students to imagine a rendezvous between characters from different literary pieces. The students are required to put up a dramatic representation of this conversation between characters that have been paired like Kabuliwala and Elizabeth Bennet,Don Quixote and Romeo, Alice and Malala Yousafzai etc.

The event for Classes XI -XII, entitled ' A Character's Odyssey' gives the students a chance to recreate a sixteenth century persona in the present time. Shylock, Caliban, Othello, Doctor Faustus are some of the characters chosen for this event.
