NO

Not fair

This will be abused by students who hold a grudge against a teacher. A notorious, ill-behaved child will give a poor grade to a good teacher who disciplines him for his betterment while a meritorious student will grade the teacher correctly. Allowing students to judge teachers is not a good idea as it will not be objective or fair.

Morally wrong

How can we grade someone who tried to capture the essence of the world and pass it to us through his words? They are not only our teachers, they are our friends, philosophers and guides. So it is not our job to grade our teachers using the very numbers they taught us.

Just positive

Students, the backbone of the society, are strengthened and nurtured by teachers. Students may not grade teachers. These unsung personalities cannot be judged. But, if allowed, students may honour them for their unique teaching styles and dedication.

Correct way

Grading teachers encourages the participation of every student in the education improvement process. Students can express their opinions, suggestions and problems in a democratic way. This also allows a teacher to better understand a student’s needs and difficulties. It aids in rectifying both mentor and pupil.

Feedback required

If there are any issues with their teaching, it should be addressed. However, the grading should not be taken negatively and teachers should try to address the concerns raised. Because even good teachers need feedback to update themselves.

Universal system

Students should grade teachers on behaviour, teaching skill and personality. Some students like soft-spoken and friendly teachers while others prefer strict teachers even though they scold a lot. Grading them on set skills will make it a level playing field.
