The West Bengal Madhyamik and Higher Secondary (HS) 2022 examination schedules have been released.

The Madhyamik (Class X) exams will be held from March 7 to March 16, 2022, and the HS (Class XII) theory exams from April 2 to April 20, 2022.

The HS practical exams will begin on February 15 and end on March 4. The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE), which conducts the HS exams, will not send question papers for the practical exams. The council will upload a list of topics on its website based on which the schools will have to frame questions.

The HS 2022 exams will be conducted at home centres for the first time but Madhyamik examinees will be assigned exam venues in other schools.

Also, the qualifying exam or selection test will not be mandatory for HS 2022 students. Madhyamik 2022 examinees, however, must appear for the test by the end of December.

A total of 6,723 schools will act as HS exam centres, three times more from the last exam. “Last time, we had 2,300 schools as exam venues. This year we increased it three-fold and awarded home centres to students to ensure that COVID protocol are maintained, social distancing can be followed and students do not need to travel. We will also be increasing the exam venues proportionately to ensure that each venue has five exam centres under it as is our system,” said Chiranjib Bhattacharya, president of WBCHSE.

WBBSE president Kalyanmoy Ganguly said it would not be possible to conduct Madhyamik 2022 at home centres. “We have 9991 schools from where students will be appearing for Madhyamik 2022 and it won’t be possible to conduct the exam in all these schools but we will try to follow COVID-safety protocol as much as possible,” he said.

Madhyamik routine:

The Madhyamik 2022 exams will be held from 11.45am to 3pm.

  • March 7: First Language
  • March 8: Second Language
  • March 9: Geography
  • March 11: History
  • March 12: Life Science
  • March 14: Maths

  • March 16: Optional Subject

The HS 2022 exams will be held from 10am to 1.15pm. The Cass XI exams will be conducted by the WBCHSE and follow the same routine as HS 2022 but the exams will be held from 2pm to 4.45pm.
