Students studying in colleges under Sambalpur University in Odisha can now get online migration certificates for admission to other institutes.
The initiative has been taken to reduce hassles faced by students while applying for college or university transfer.
Sambalpur University is the second educational institute in the state after Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology in Bhubaneswar to begin online service under the Centre for Modernising Government Initiative.
The service was launched under the Odisha Right to Public Service Act (ORTPSA) on October 27, the university said in a circular.
Sambalpur University vice-chancellor Sanjib Mittal said students of affiliated colleges will not have to go to the institute to get migration certificate as they could apply online and get it.
There are a total 222 colleges under the university in 10 districts of western Odisha. Around 25,000 students graduate from the colleges every year. To apply online, students will have to visit the Sambalpur University website and click on the 'Apply for Migration' option, following which they will be redirect to the ORTPSA migration, an official said.
Students will have to enrol by providing a mobile number and email-ID on the page. They will receive a user ID and password by mail for logging in and applying for the migration certificate. Students can also choose to collect the certificate physically from the university or receive it by post.
