More than 1,000 seats are still vacant in the National Eligibility Cumulative Entrance Test-Super Specialty (NEET SS 2022) counselling, according to a letter from the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) to the Director General of Health Services. The doctors' association suggested that a mop-up round be held by the officials to reduce seat wastage.

A major amount of seats are still vacant for super specialised courses despite the fact that NEET SS 2022 counselling has been completed. Every year, thousands of students participate in the NEET SS counselling. FORDA stated that "it is urgent to increase the number of seats for super speciality," adding that "seat waste is not acceptable and represents a huge academic and healthcare loss."

The resident doctors' organisation asked for a mop-up round for the NEET SS and requested that "the seats that were not joined by the candidates to whom they were given, be also made a part of the mop-up round, therefore adding to the seat pool." If they decide not to continue, "Your respected office may establish a provision for the same to enable them to resign their seats."
